A Ramadan special naturally imposed itself because of the publication calendar. As with previous issues, the mailbox filled with strong submissions answering the call for contributions launched on Facebook. The issue offers an objective look at what is distinctive about Ramadan in Tunisia and elsewhere: moments of devotion and prayer, family or neighbourhood gatherings around the table at the breaking of the fast, richly stocked market stalls and much more. After a long investigation, Hamideddine Bouali introduces Abdelhak El Ouertani, the first Tunisian Arab photographer, and recounts his tragic fate.
