Passing on a way of seeing

The art of editing and photographic storytelling.

“Learn to see before learning to shoot.”

After two decades of teaching in Paris, Pierre Gassin works with photographers to develop their own visual writing. The focus is not only technical: meaning, editing and an author’s point of view are central.

In 2026, the emphasis is on outcomes: exhibitions, publishing and the durability of visual narratives in a world saturated with snapshots.

Passing on the gaze

The art of editing and photographic storytelling

Learn to see before learning to take.

Drawing on two decades of teaching in Paris, Pierre Gassin supports photographers in the search for their own visual language. The work is not only about technique, but about constructing meaning and developing an authorial vision.

In 2026, the emphasis is on what the work becomes: exhibition, publishing and the durability of a visual narrative in a world saturated with instant images.

A field experience focused on natural light. From early-morning shooting in the archipelago to post-production in the studio, the programme covers the complete landscape-image workflow.

From shooting to exhibition

How do you move from the sensor to the gallery wall? This module covers support choices, scenography and the technical management of a professional photographic exhibition.

The book as an object: editorial creation
